Found Notes

It is often that people don't realize how affective a message can be whether it's through text, notes, email, facebook, etc. Just by the letters a person is able to tell the tone of the senders voice or whether or not that person is being sarcastic or actually has an attitude. In this reading the note by Sandra caught my attention because it was straight forward. Just by reading the text it is clear that she is fed up and hates it when men uses the wrong restroom. All the letters are in caps and she repeats some of the things she had already stated so that whoever is reading the note will understands how much it bothers her. These notes were pretty funny and I enjoyed reading them; they made me think of when I use to leave notes on my parents door before I would head off to school in the morning.

Someone to watch over me

Theodora did an excellent job explaining how she actually keeps up with all her social networking sites. I would never be able to "stay in the loop". I find it pretty interesting how people actually check their social sites before getting up and brushing their teeth (that part was funny). This reading was interesting to me because I never think adults are on facebook or other social sites as much as teens but nine times out of ten, they are. I think I'm the complete opposite from Theodora. I try to limit myself on facebook an twitter because I don't want to become addicted or lose my interpersonal skills. I have a friend who's on these sites constantly, it's horrible. Most people who are on facebook, twitter, tumblr and other sites every second of their lives aren't to good with face to face conversations or other interactions humans have and that's what I try to aviod. Although these social networking sites are fun and keep me updated with my friends, I try my best to stay off of them as often as I can.

My ideas for the community assignment

For this assignment the three places I plan to observe are:
- Sisters scholars
- Academic Center
- United Caribbean Cultures

High school secret life

High school is a place where many students are either pretending to be someone they really aren't or actually being theirself and getting picked on because their brave enough to do so. This reading had focused on an specific girl that had changed who she was because she could no longer sit with her friend in the cafeteria. Generally when people lose themselves it's hard to recognized who that person is because their identity changed. At a certain point in your life you realize how important your identiy is, because people use your identity to seperate you from other individuals. Being young and not fully understanding what identity means sometimes causes many students to trail down the wrong path because they don't know who they really are.
