This Is How We Live
"We're just so lazy. We used to have breath mints. Now we have breath strips that just dissolve on our tongue. Can we not suck anymore?" Ellen has a wonderful point here ! I mean how easy are things going to get ? I'm starting to think that maybe technology continues to rapidly grow because people are starting to get lazier as time grows. After analyzing this reading I realized how lazy technology made me. I hate it ! I understand that technology severs a purpose to our society and helps humans connect and communicate with one another but there should be a limit. Society is relying heavily on technology and I agree with Ellen, most things are completely pointless. For instance, the moving side walk at airports. I mean 99.9 percent of people use it just because it's there not because it's needed. When I went to Florida last summer I played on the damn thing. I just find certain forms of technology useless, such as that one. Although there are other technology that is very useful; the advance technology we use today helps contribute to our laziness and it's beginning to become a huge concern. I mean next people aren't going to have to feed themselves. Technology will develop a way for individuals to press a button and be satisfied. On a more serious note, people need to realize how important technology really is. If people did maybe society wouldn't take as much advantage. Ellen states really good points and supports them with vaild details and facts, I wish she had been a little more serious but overall I enjoyed reading.

Hip Hop Life
Desean made very good points through out this reading. I thought it was pretty interesting how he pointed out that many people in our generation potray themselves as if they were living the hip hop life but they actually have no idea. I generally see a lot of people doing this so I guess this is the reason I found it to be so interesting. When people are on the outside looking in generally they don't get the message as clear as the person on the inside does. Many teens may think it's easy being a superstar but thats only because they see whats on tv and not what happends in the stuido. It takes more then just showing off nice cars, girls and flashing money to make music but teenagers don't see beyond that.

Found Notes
It is often that people don't realize how affective a message can be whether it's through text, notes, email, facebook, etc. Just by the letters a person is able to tell the tone of the senders voice or whether or not that person is being sarcastic or actually has an attitude. In this reading the note by Sandra caught my attention because it was straight forward. Just by reading the text it is clear that she is fed up and hates it when men uses the wrong restroom. All the letters are in caps and she repeats some of the things she had already stated so that whoever is reading the note will understands how much it bothers her. These notes were pretty funny and I enjoyed reading them; they made me think of when I use to leave notes on my parents door before I would head off to school in the morning.

Someone to watch over me
Theodora did an excellent job explaining how she actually keeps up with all her social networking sites. I would never be able to "stay in the loop". I find it pretty interesting how people actually check their social sites before getting up and brushing their teeth (that part was funny). This reading was interesting to me because I never think adults are on facebook or other social sites as much as teens but nine times out of ten, they are. I think I'm the complete opposite from Theodora. I try to limit myself on facebook an twitter because I don't want to become addicted or lose my interpersonal skills. I have a friend who's on these sites constantly, it's horrible. Most people who are on facebook, twitter, tumblr and other sites every second of their lives aren't to good with face to face conversations or other interactions humans have and that's what I try to aviod. Although these social networking sites are fun and keep me updated with my friends, I try my best to stay off of them as often as I can.
My ideas for the community assignment
For this assignment the three places I plan to observe are:
- Sisters scholars
- Academic Center
- United Caribbean Cultures

High school secret life
High school is a place where many students are either pretending to be someone they really aren't or actually being theirself and getting picked on because their brave enough to do so. This reading had focused on an specific girl that had changed who she was because she could no longer sit with her friend in the cafeteria. Generally when people lose themselves it's hard to recognized who that person is because their identity changed. At a certain point in your life you realize how important your identiy is, because people use your identity to seperate you from other individuals. Being young and not fully understanding what identity means sometimes causes many students to trail down the wrong path because they don't know who they really are.

Collage
My collage is going to display many memories with my family that I will forever hold on too. Being the only girl and having three older brothers and a father to guard me every step of the way makes me feel protected at all times. Without them I have no idea on how my outlook on the world would be. As for the lost we just had, it not only hurted us but also it made us grow more as my family. Most people that know me know that I'm a family person, my brothers and I have been through elementary school all the way to high school together and it just so happened that college seperated us. Without my family I wouldn't be who I am and I am very thankful for everyone of them.
